Baxter stirs up rivalry ahead of Super Eagles clash

Cape Town - Bafana Bafana head coach Stuart Baxter has turned up the heat ahead of their all important Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier clash against Nigeria.

The former Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United mentor says that South Africa are not just travelling to Nigeria to make up the numbers.

“We need a positive result in Nigeria and we have capabilities to hurt them,” he said as quoted by KickOff website.

“When we get there, we should be ready. There is no perfect world but I have positive belief.

“We are going to be a big nuisance to them; we want to be a nightmare they don’t want.

“I respect Nigeria but we are not going there to make up the numbers.”

South Africa departs for Nigeria on Wednesday and will travel to Uyo via Lagos.

Bafana Bafana are set to face the Super Eagles on Saturday, June 10 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.

Kick off is at 18:00 (SA time).

Meanwhile, Libya will host Seychelles in the Group E encounter on Friday, June 9.

The 32nd edition of the tournament is set to be held in Cameroon between 12 January and 3 February 2019.
