Banyana Banyana ease into COSAFA semi-finals

Cape Town - Banyana Banyana beat Madagascar 3-0 to claim a spot in the semi-finals of the COSAFA Women's Championship.

The Desiree Ellis-coached side opened their account through a ninth minute Ode Fulutudilu strike before captain Refiloe Jane added the second goal shortly before the half-time whistle.

Plucky Madagascar failed to trouble the reigning champions as Mamello Makhabane, who made her 100th appearance for Banyana Banyana, saw her deft strike deflected into the back of the net for the third goal.

South Africa started their tournament off with a record-breaking 17-0 win over Comoros before cruising to a 3-1 victory over Malawi last Friday.

Banyana Banyana top Group A with nine points and will face the winner of Group C (Zimbabwe or Eswatini) on Wednesday, August 8.

Kick-off is at 15:30.
