Bafana to host Sao Tome e Principe AFCON qualifier at FNB Stadium

Cape Town - Bafana Bafana will play at the FNB Stadium in the first of back-to-back 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Sao Tome e Principe.

The Group C clash will take place on Friday, March 27, 2020 at 19:30.

Tickets for the encounter will cost R40 and will go on sale early next week.

This will be Bafana Bafana’s third match of the qualifiers after they played Ghana (away) in the first match, going down 2-0 in Cape Coast. They followed that up with a 1-0 win over Sudan in the second fixture at the Orlando Stadium.

After the FNB Stadium match, Bafana Bafana will travel to Sao Tome e Principe for the return leg which will be played on Tuesday, March 31.

In their penultimate qualifier South Africa will host Ghana on Saturday, June 6. The venue for this encounter is still being decided.

Kick-off is at 15:00.

The sixth and final match in the qualifiers will be away to Sudan in August/September this year.

Coach Molefi Ntseki’s charges are currently second in Group C, three points behind Ghana who have collected six points to date.

Sudan are third (3 points) and Sao Tome e Principe (0 points) find themselves bottom of the table.

Only the top two teams will qualify for the January/February 2021 24-nation AFCON spectacle in Cameroon.

Algeria are the defending champions.
