Bafana get favourable 2018 SWC draw

Cape Town - The CAF qualifying group draw for the 2018 Soccer World Cup Africa in Russia was made in Cairo on Friday.

Bafana Bafana were drawn in Group D, alongside Senegal, Cape Verde and Burkina Faso.

Senegal are ranked 41st in the world, Cape Verde are 49th, Bafana are currently 68th, while Burkina Faso are 73rd.

Only the five group winners will qualify for the tournament.

Groups:

Group A: Tunisia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Guinea, Libya

Group B: Algeria, Nigeria, Cameroon, Zambia

Group C: Ivory Coast, Mali, Morocco, Gabon

Group D: Senegal, Cape Verde, South Africa, Burkina Faso

Group E: Ghana, Egypt, Congo Brazzaville, Uganda

Match days:

1: October 3-11, 2016

2: November 7-15, 2016

3/4: August 28-September 5, 2017

5: October 2-10, 2017

6: November 6-14, 2017
