Zwane: Hard work pays off

Cape Town - Bafana Bafana midfielder Themba Zwane has once again been selected for the squad to face Mauritania next month, and the Tembisa-born player says it's all down to hard work.

Zwane told Sport24 that he had been working hard at Sundowns hence his inclusion in the national team.

"Every time you work hard you get rewards and this is my reward, for my hard work at Sundowns has brought me here," Zwane said.

“I just have to continue working hard and produce results both at club and the national team.

“It's always great to play for your country.”

The 26-year-old midfielder featured in both of the Brazilians’ official games this season, starting against Platinum Stars in the 0-0 PSL draw, and was a substitute when they lost to Bloemfontein Celtic on penalties. Zwane was one of Sundowns’ penalty scorers on the night.

Last season Zwane played in 28 games in all domestic competitions, scoring three times.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
