Bafana milestone for Yeye

Cape Town - Recalled Bafana Bafana midfielder Reneilwe 'Yeye' Letsholonyane is relishing the prospect of being capped 50 times for the national side.

Speaking to Kaizer Chiefs website, the 32-year-old is eager to feature for the green and yellow in their AFCON qualifying fixture against Congo.

"What is important for me is to contribute positively to the team and if I do so in both games and reach my 50th cap, I will be happier," said Letsholonyane.

"It would be an honour to reach my 50th cap, but it all depends on the coach and how he plans for both games."

‘Yeye' has been on a scintillating form for his club, resulting in Shakes Mashaba recalling him to the national team after missing out in the last two matches.

Letsholonyane believes that in order for Bafana Bafana to achieve their goals, South Africa as a nation has to be patient with the squad and coach Mashaba.

"My message is, this is a new team, I plead with all South Africans to be patient with what the coach and his technical team are building,” stresses Yeye.

“It will take time, Rome was not built in a day, it will take time and hard work to reach our goal. The support is needed throughout this building phase."

Bafana Bafana are playing their all-important CAF Orange Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2015 back-to-back against Congo this Saturday, October 11, in Pointe Noire at 16:30 (SA time) and next Wednesday, October 15, at Peter Mokaba Stadium at 20:05.

Players to look out for in the Congo squad:

Goalkeeper Barel Mouko plays his club football in France for Lille. Former Orlando Pirates defender Fabry Destin Makita-Passy is a key figure in the Congolese defence, having played 40 times for his country. Veteran defender Christopher Samba, who plays for Russian side Dynamo Moscow is a highly rated defender at both club and national level.
