Tovey will target grassroots

Cape Town - Bafana Bafana assistant coach, Thabo Senong, believes that Neil Tovey’s appointment as SAFA Technical Director is good for South African football because he will put in the work at grassroots level.

“I’ve worked with him before at coaching courses and we congratulate him on his appointment,” Senong told Sport24.

“If you look at Niel Tovey’s contribution to South African football as a player and as a coach it is very good.”

Senong says that progress in South African football at professional level will come down to hard work and commitment at a grassroots level.

"He’s got a high work ethic and this is what our grassroots football has been short of.

"Tovey will always try to provide solutions at grassroots level, he is going to contribute immensely in our coaching education department and of course he is going to give our youth teams technical support.

"I see progress in our football with people like Tovey on board."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
