Johannesburg - Former Bafana Bafana captain Neil Tovey believes South Africa can beat Brazil on Wednesday as long as they stick to their normal style of play.
According to the Soccer-Laduma website, Bafana will host the Soccer World Cup hosts in what is expected to be an exciting friendly match at FNB Stadium on Wednesday.
“Gordon played against Brazil in his first game in charge of Bafana, if I’m not mistaken. Bafana played very well in that game, so I don’t think there’s a need for us to change the way we play in this game,” Tovey.
“We just need to take our chances and also minimise mistakes at the back. All the goals that Brazil scored against us came from our own mistakes, so if Bafana can make less mistakes at the back then we stand a good chance of beating Brazil,” added Tovey.
South Africa has failed to beat Brazil in four previous outings, but all those matches have been closely contested.
“I remember when we played Brazil back in 1996 in the Nelson Mandela Challenge. We led 2-0 and then Brazil came back and beat us. So if Bafana take the lead against Brazil on Wednesday, they must make sure that they protect that lead and they will win the game,” concluded Tovey.
