Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs defender Tefu Mashamaite has unveiled what the “secret” to Bafana Bafana’s success following their AFCON qualification.
Bafana v Sudan: 3 talking points
According to Soccer Laduma, Mashamaite believes that the diminishing of all egos within the Bafana squad is the underlying secret to their AFCON qualification success.
“There are no egos in this squad, everyone wants to come into this team and do well, and I think that has been the secret of our qualification,” said Masha.
And with a game to spare, Mashamaite claims that the Bafana players must continue to focus on the team’s success when they face Nigeria and try not to put themselves under any pressure.
“I think a mistake that we can make is to think about the pressure that Nigeria are under, and what they’re going to do to us, that will just create unnecessary pressure on ourselves.
"Having a coach like Mr. Mashaba, he won’t give you room to be lackadaisical, to allow us time to relax, we know that we’ve qualified but we want to get maximum points in order to measure ourselves against Nigeria, a powerhouse of Africa.”
Bafana will face Nigeria in the final Group A game at the Uyo International Stadium on Wednesday, November 19.
Kick-off is at 19:00.
