THREE players Shakes MUST choose

Cape Town - Bafana Bafana coach Shakes Mashaba is set to announce his squad to face Congo in back-to-back 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers on Thursday.

South Africa will travel to Point Noire to take on Congo on Saturday, October 11, before returning to South Africa to play them again four days later in Polokwane.

These are the THREE players Shakes Mashaba cannot afford to leave out:

1. Thulani Serero (Ajax Amsterdam)

Serero is proving his worth time and time again in Europe for Ajax Amsterdam and his big game temperament will be vital to Bafana Bafana's 2015 AFCON cause. A triple Eredivisie winner, Serero regularly features for Ajax in the Champions League and his commanding performance against Paris St Germain again proved that he is a talent that Mashaba can ill-afford to leave out.

At 24-years-old and bucket loads of experience to his name, Serero can provide the Bafana Bafana midfield with a more creative option going forward. Something that was lacking at times against Nigeria.

2. Kermit Erasmus (Orlando Pirates)

Erasmus has been in fine form for the Buccaneers so far this season and currently has 3 goals to his name in the PSL. Erasmus is in form and should be called up to the national squad to compete with the likes of Tokelo Rantie, Sibusiso Vilakazi and Bongani Ndulula for a place in the starting eleven.

Erasmus is another 24-year-old footballer who has been playing at the top level for some time now but has only made eight appearances for the national side.

Mashaba should be afford Erasmus the opportunity to collect many, many more caps for Bafana Bafana, starting with the Congo matches.

3. Reneilwe Letsholonyane (Kaizer Chiefs)

Shakes Mashaba may elect to discard 32-years-old Letsholonyane's chances of representing the national team.

Letsholonyane has appeared 48 times for the national side and would bring the experience required to the side as they face a tough double encounter against Congo. With AFCON less than six months away, Yeye is certainly not too old to be overlooked.

Letsholonyane currently leads the PSL's scoring charts with four goals to his name. His form for Kaizer Chiefs will be hard for Shakes Mashaba to ignore and Sport24 suggests the national coach should reward Yeye with a role in the Bafana Bafana squad.
