Johannesburg - Jomo Cosmos and former Bafana Bafana caretaker coach Jomo Sono was considered for the shortlist of five candidates interviewed for the Bafana Bafana coaching post on Thursday according to KickOff's website.
According to a SAFA insider, Sono was considered a good candidate, even though the suggestion was shot down before the end of the meeting.
“There was a strong belief inside the SAFA technical committee that someone like Jomo would have revived Bafana Bafana fortunes, but the suggestion was rejected at the end,” the source said.
SAFA's technical committee said it was "happy" with the first four interviews for the vacant Bafana Bafana coaching position conducted on Thursday.
Gordon Igesund, Gavin Hunt, Shakes Mashaba and Neil Tovey all presented with current interim coach, Steve Komphela's date set for next Monday.
