Six subs for Bafana v Norway

2013-01-08 14:04

Cape Town - Bafana Bafana and Norway will be allowed to play six substitutes in their friendly international at the Cape Town Stadium on Tuesday night, South Africa coach Gordon Igesund confirmed.

Kick-off is at 20:15.

This is standard practice now for all international matches and means the match result will count towards the FIFA rankings.

Some of the recent Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) warm-up matches, however, have seen sides make wholesale changes, like Zambia, who played an entirely new line-up in the second half on Sunday when they were beaten 2-0 by Angola at the Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto.

Bafana will play their final warm-up match against Algeria at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday (kick-off 18:00), ahead of the start of the 2013 AFCON on January 19.

Why only 6 substitutes???? I feel that because this is a friendly game, coaches should be allowed to field 11 players and the balance on the sub list. Coaches want to find their best combination and to see how players play under pressure in order to select their team for the upcoming game that really matters

This has been shining while he was a Supersport player, Pirates grabbed that cream with both hands and he continued to be the best left wing player in this country but with no luck to be sported by the National squad selectors and yet players like Shabba who failed to find their feet since he scored the opening goal in the World Cup of 2010 but they always on the squad. Mr Gordon I'm talking about Daine Claite and what more must he do!!
