Shakes: Only 3 points will do

Cape Town – Shakes Mashaba reveals that Bafana Bafana are heading into the Nigeria game looking only for three points.

Preview: Nigeria v South Africa

According to Soccer Laduma, Mashaba admits that Bafana are not approaching the encounter with caution as they look to avoid being trapped.

“First thing, we don't want to break the momentum of the team, all the players that are here deserve to be here,” said the 64-year-old.

“We still want to make sure that we keep a clean record by winning all our matches, but unfortunately we drew at some point but we want to win this one against Nigeria.”

Mashaba remains adamant that South Africa are building a new team and are still working towards that goal despite Nigeria’s hoodoo effect on Bafana.

“Yesterday, today and tomorrow will never be the same.

“What happened yesterday and tomorrow are two different things and I'm sure that you must have heard that we are building a new team that's why you see these young boys.”

Sport24 will have LIVE and interactive match commentary of the 2015 AFCON qualifier game between Nigeria and South Africa.

Kick-off is at 19:00.
