Cape Town - Bafana Bafana midfielder Siphiwe
Tshabalala is backing his countrymen to top their group and qualify for
the 2015 African Cup of Nations.
Following their 0-0 draw against Congo on Wednesday night, Bafana Bafana currently top Group A in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
"It was good to see the nation play at home, and getting a valuable point in the race to qualify for the 2015 African Cup of Nations," wrote the Kaizer Chiefs midfielder on his website.
"A draw against Congo is not a bad result, if you keep in mind that we beat them away from home in the first match. It was beautiful to also see the support that South African’s gave the boys."
South Africa are one point ahead of Congo with eight points, while defending champions Nigeria are in third place with four points. After a poor start, the Eagles face the possibility of not qualifying for the tournament.
Meanwhile, Bafana have not qualified for a major international tournament since AFCON 2008, where they qualified via their runner-up position in Group 11.
"I think that the team is doing great and with the results and standings that we have, we can go all the way," added Tshabalala.
"There are only a couple of matches left to play and if we can be able to defeat Sudan at home and look for a positive result in Nigeria, the job will be done."
