Cape Town - Former Zambia coach Herve Renard has also been linked to the vacant Bafana Bafana coaching job.
The South African Football Association (SAFA) earlier this week announced they will not not be renewing current coach Gordon Igesund's contract once it expires at the end of August.
A number of candidates have since been linked with the new job, including former Bafana coach Carlos Queiroz, Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi, former Orlando Pirates coach Ruud Krol and SA Under-23 coach Shakes Mashaba.
According to the Kick-Off website, Renard is also in the running.
The Frenchman's agent, Severin Bohui, said Renard is honoured to be linked with the job which he considers to be one of the greatest in Africa.
The 45-year-old Renard guided Zambia to a shock 2012 Africa Cup of Nations final victory over Ivory Coast.
He currently manages French Ligue 1 club FC Sochaux.
