Pitso wants loyal players

2010-08-05 14:10

Johannesburg - Bafana Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane says his team selection for the international friendly against Ghana is based on his policy of continuity with the 2014 vision in mind.

He said that, for this reason, he selected players who are loyal and want to play for South Africa. “I hope we have the right players in the team. And with the technical team we have, we don't expect any problems. It is not that we had problems in the past,” said the Bafana coach.

He added that the technical team want to phase some of the youngsters into the squad which will happen in due time, “ We want to use the young players but as of now they are either with the under-23 or under-20 team. We also want to keep some of the players we had in the World Cup so that we have continuity.”

“We want to qualify for the World Cup 2014 as well as the Afcon for 2012 and 2014,” Mosimane concluded.

The friendly against Ghana takes place on Wednesday the 11th of August at Soccer City.

Well understood. Hope you make ours proud

  • Koos - 2010-08-05 15:04

Ghana not afraid of changes. The coach has a plan with his squad

  • Chiefs faithfull - 2010-08-05 15:07

Does this mean that players like Nasief will never play for Bafana , while he is coach.Pitso its not only about players who arrive for games.take Teko for exmple he will arrive for every game because he stays with you, but on the field, does it look like he wants to die for Bafana. Comon good players go trough bad spells , but Teko has been playing crap for two years. you are not helping him by keep selecting him.

Its about time we rewrite history. it makes much sense to do so by first appointing a South African 'born' as head couch of Bafana Bafana, Mr. Pitso 'jingles' Mosimane you deserve all the respect you get. The World Stage is yours to concure.

Oooooo Pitso be a man among man and do the right thing do not listen to any one only your technical team, and to selecting Mokoena in the squared your also contradicting yourself, you want to build to 2014 and beyond but your still keeping Mokoena in the team, he is the culprit that man he is the one who caused ours during world cup by his mistakes and he does not have leadership qualities that man look at all games he played and captained and you will see he was just running in the ground and not looking at his soldiers if they are positioned correctly and tell them to do so, instead all mistakes was on him get away with that man and groom young stars, unless you bring back Benni and others if you use him he is no different than other players and special must be dealt with accordingly, with him we have already lost that game against Ghana.

what happened to the likes of Bryce Moon, Elrio van Heerden and I just dont understand why Kimit Erasmus is always left out. Waht happened to playing young players and preparing for the 2012 AFCON and 2014 world cup? Please just play Mbaso in the position he plays at club level and just maybe we will see the best of him.

  • Rhadi - 2010-08-05 20:23

Just as long as Teko Modise stays on the bench! Alas will be well

  • BS - 2010-08-05 22:29

We, Mokoena is selected Pitso wont last as the bafana coach.

  • Gonzalo - 2010-08-06 09:02

if ngcobo was at free State Stars he would not have been selected, and he is the one one bunked bafana call ups last year still the coach think he is loyal, and why do u select players who are going to be over 30 in 2014.

Most of commentors got a lot of foolishness instead of madness, foolishness is uncurable.First and foremost Ghana and Bafana Bafana gonna play next week and that gonna be Pitso Mosimane's first game as OUR coach. All players he selected are South Africans just like our selves and got the right to be selected and tested for their country. Why are we mixing football and hatred? Why cant we wait for next week game before we can critisize Pitso and players selected? One thing for sure,no coach can select all players we think are suitable unless if the coach is in your MAD AND FULL OF HATRACY TEAM.Most of the World stars ( Etto,Rooney,Drogba,Ronaldo,Messi etc ) did not perform well during SWC and surely they still got support from their countries. It is high time an academy for supporters be opened, otherwise PITSO and MIGHTY BAFANA BAFANA gonna be destroyed by these morons.VIVA BAFANA BAFANA VIVA!

What are you on about? Nobody stated that these players are not South African. Nobody said they hate these players, look if you don’t think a player should be in the team doesn’t mean you hate the guy. Chief most of the stars you mentioned were criticised by their fans. The whole England team is aware that they might be booed at their next game. Some of the other stars like Etto and Renaldo apologised to the countries as soon as they were knocked out. Not like our players, has MBAZO said anything about his failures , which cost us heavily. Let me refresh you memory. Our first goal against Mexico, he caused the goal by playing the player on while the rest of the defence applied the off side trap. In the game against Uruguay he turn his back to the ball, the ball deflected of him into the net. Now Chief did you see that German defender taking a point blank shot in the face. As a captain he should have led by example.

I would like to add that we need to teach our guys basics like: 1) using both feet to pass and shoot; 2) passing accross the whole field; 3) passing hard; 4)recieving a hard pass; all these things will do is give out guys more time without pressure. Make no mistake-when our guys get it together we are unstoppable... however, i assume it is because of our inexperience at high levels, we can never sustain our dominance, or provide consitant offense. The idea to use only young players is great... but please I beg you!... help them to go play overseas... where the coaching is proper and the discipline is expected.. as to the comments about Teko Modise... he is too small! if he has space he is great... else he is just a ball passer... why does he not hit the gym? he would be awesome if he just has more physical presence... I use him as an example... you see a big fish in a small bowl has no need to try any harder... our players need international exposure... viva bafana bafana

until pitso starts playing white players in the bafana team, he can dream of qualifying for the WCF untill the cows come home, but bafana will always be losers!
