Pitso to change approach

Cape Town – Bafana Bafana coach, Pitso Mosimane insists that he will change his approach when his charges take on Côte d'Ivoire and Zimbabwe respectively.

It will be Bafana’s first competitive match since their humiliating failure to qualify for the 2012 African Cup of Nations.

Mosimane has since come clean about the reason behind their failure, citing their inability to create and finish goal scoring chances.

He says that he will adopt a more offensive approach for Saturday’s showdown with Africa’s top ranked team in Port Elizabeth.

"I will change my strategy. We have not been scoring goals and this is what affected us [during the 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifiers]," Mosimane said on Kickoff’s website.

Mosimane may still come under a fair bit of criticism after he failed to add any more fire power to the Bafana squad after the glaring omission of Norwegian-based striker, May Mahlangu.

Mahlangu is experiencing a rich vein of form lately, scoring for his club side, Helsingborg in their 3-1 victory over Kalmar in the Norwegian Cup final.

If Bafana are to continue their dismal form in front of goal, more questions will be fired in Mosimane’s direction, something he is all to aware of.

"Our defence has always looked solid, but it is in the striking department that we have been found wanting. We cannot win if we do not score."
