Komphela, Free State Stars' head tactician, was appointed Mosimane's assistant in the national team setup at the beginning of April, although critics fear the two coaching powerhouses will heavily contradict each other.
However, Mosimane says he is not concerning himself with reports of a coaching coup, and remains confident the pair can deliver the right kind of results together.
"I'm not gonna watch my back, worrying that Steve wants to be the future Bafana coach or not," Mosimane told Sunday World.
"He can never be Pitso and I can never be Steve. We've got different qualities as coaches. I interpret football in my way and he interprets it his way.
"People have been talking about two bulls in one kraal. I say go ask Tommy (Madigage), he'll tell you how I work.
"I don't prefer to work with a 'yes man' or a ball boy. I work with people who'd differ with me. People with different opinions.
"You can't be a coach if you don't work with people who contradict you."
