Johannesburg - SAFA spokesperson Morio Sanyane admits he is unsure on the status of Steven Pienaar's reported injury following a vague posting on Everton's official website.

The Toffees and Bafana playmaker has been ruled out of Sunday's crucial AFCON qualifier in Sierra Leone due to a groin problem.

However, the Merseysiders on Wednesday described Pienaar's injury as "unknown" without revealing when he would return, while comprehensive details were provided for the rest of the club's sidelined players.

"It's all rather strange," Sanyane said on the Sowetan website.

"We've always enjoyed a cordial relationship with Everton regarding Pienaar's availability and had no cause to doubt he had an injury this time.

"But the news on the website is a little disturbing.

"Perhaps they have just got their wires crossed at the club, particularly as Pienaar missed out on Everton's last Premier League game as well."

Please SAFA just stop it if he is injured then let it be you want to go the same route as with Benni then implying he does not want to play for his country in the mean while it is stuff like this doubting the integrity of the player and the clubs so please let it be. I think this will be a good time to test some of our other midfielders and not building dependance on certain players.

I think he pulled the muscle to the right of his left ear.

Would you want one of your players travelling to Seirra Leone? I certainly wouldn't. I've had a feeling there was more to this from the start, but I could be wrong.

Bafana team doctor Ephraim Nematswerani spoke about the injuries in the squad at a press conference , saying, "As for Pienaar we received a full medical report from the head of the medical department at Everton stating that he's got an injury. More importantly we also received a scan report from radiologists at a private hospital in England confirming he's got a grade one right groin muscle tear,"

Maybe Dr. Michael Essien can help out, he seems to diagnose his own injuries, so I'm sure he can help out Stevie P.

No one can doubt Schillo's love and commitment to Bafana (in he is Bafana), but I also would not send to that if he were my player.
