Phala: Bafana are no underdogs

Cape Town – Thuso Phala insists that Bafana Bafana are no underdogs and believes that the other nations are wary of their capabilities.

According to Soccer Laduma, Phala reveals that Bafana Bafana coach Shakes Mashaba has been nothing but positive which has seen it rub off the players.

“We qualified for the AFCON with a game to go, so I don’t think we’re seen as underdogs,” said Phala.

“I think the other countries have been watching our tapes and our games, if they want to see us as underdogs it’ll be to their own disadvantage.”

Phala is confident that Bafana can go all the way since he deems that qualifying is more difficult than the tournament itself.

“I think the most difficult part is to qualify for the knockouts, once you get to that stage it’s anybody’s game. Last time we lost on penalties and it could have gone either way.”
