According to Soccer Laduma, the left-back last represented South Africa in 2013 but has recently moved to Poland as he signed for Polish First League side Pogon Szczecin.

Nunes admits that he still wants to play for Bafana Bafana: “I always have the desire to represent my country,” the 28-year-old said.

“I see that there’s a new period (of transformation) now happening in the national team and I’m very happy with the results that have been coming, despite the early exit from the AFCON.

“I will continue doing my job and I want to get back to my best physical condition and work on my confidence, so that I can have a chance (to make the team). I will do everything I can to be an option for the coach.”

Nunes has represented Bafana Bafana five times and is also a product of Portugal’s Under-17 and Under-18 youth level.

Bafana Bafana are set to play an international friendly against Nigeria at the Mbombela Stadium on Sunday, March 29.

KickOff is at 15:00.

Do you think Shakes Mashaba should have a look in giving Ricardo Nunes a chance?
