No league policy for Bafana selection

Cape Town - Bafana Bafana assistant coach, Thabo Senong, told Sport24 that the national team’s selection policy does not prohibit players from lower leagues getting a call up.

Senong said this at the back of a 3-0 win over Mauritius in the CHAN qualifiers on Saturday at Dobsoniville Stadium in Soweto.

"We are always aiming high,” Senong said.

"We are working hard to give the country the results it needs and that's why we select the best players for the national team.

"We don't just look at the PSL or the NFD. We go even down to the LFAs, and if there are good players there, we will consider them for national duty.

"Not just for Bafana but also Under 17, Under 20 and Under 23."

Senong also recognised that Bafana still have to go to Mauritius and make sure they wrap it up to qualify for the next round.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
