New SA coach skips presser

Johannesburg - The new Bafana Bafana coach will not be in attendance when the South African Football Association makes the announcement on Saturday, SAFA president Danny Jordaan said on Wednesday.

"No, he won't be there (on Saturday)," Jordaan said.

"He will be unveiled at a later stage, on Saturday will only be the announcement of the new coach."

Last weekend, Jordaan said he hoped to bring the new boss of the national soccer team to Johannesburg for the announcement, but said on Wednesday this would not be the case.

Saturday's highly-anticipated announcement is expected to take place at SAFA headquarters, at the Soccer City complex, which is home to the FNB Stadium.

Also on Saturday, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs kick-off the fourth edition of the Carling Black Label Cup at 15:00 at the iconic FNB Stadium.

Jordaan said he was unable to guarantee he would make it in time for the pre-season spectacle due to a national executive committee meeting.

The meeting would conclude with the announcement of the new coach.
