According to KickOff, Masinga was taken aback by the Orlando Pirates number one's goalkeeping performance and believes the 26-year-old led by example in his first official game as captain.

“His saves kept the team in the game and created a perfect platform for victory (against Sudan),” said the former Leeds United player.

“Against Nigeria, it will be much tougher because they are a powerhouse.

“I think if Meyiwa is able to maintain his form, then the guys will be in with a good chance of coming out with a good result.”

‘Chippa’ as he is affectionately known was part the Bafana side that won the African Cup of Nations in 1996 and the 45-year-old believes that the younger players seem hungrier than previous generations. He also added that the 3-0 victory in Khartoum is the confidence Shakes Mashaba’s side will need to overhaul the Super Eagles.
