Masinga backs Mashaba's decision

Johannesburg - Former Bafana Bafana striker Phil Masinga has backed the inclusion of in-form Orlando Pirates striker Kermit Erasmus.

Erasmus has netted 10 goals this season already for the Sea Robbers and missed out on the opportunity to represent Bafana in their last two AFCON qualifying games against Sudan (3-0) in Khartoum and Nigeria (0-0) in Cape Town.

According to KickOff, Masinga believes that there is no better time for Erasmus’ call-up to the national team and is confident the 24-year-old will be a force to reckon with in the Bafana side for years to come.

“I’m happy that he has been included in the squad,” said Masinga, who has played made over 50 appearances for South Africa between 1992 and 2001.

“The thing with Kermit is that he already has the international experience because he’s come through the junior structures and also, he has been on form plus at 24 he is not old."

“He can give the national team six to seven years.”
