Mashaba hits back at critics

Cape Town – Shakes Mashaba has hit back at his critics following Bafana Bafana’s victory over Senegal in the Nelson Mandela Challenge.

Mpho Makola handed South Africa victory in the 78th minute as they seek to heal the wounds which left their AFCON 2017 hopes hanging with a 3-1 defeat to Mauritania.

According to KickOff, Mashaba reveals that he is not finding any joy in what he has been hearing from the media.

"I'm not getting joy from what I hear from the media, I'm not exposed to the wrath of people who have their own things that they are pushing,” said the Bafana Bafana coach.

"It's about football, why don't we talk football? Imagine if I come to you and say what you wrote is wrong, will you be happy? No you won't... but people come to me and ask why do you select so and so?"

He continued: "I'm the coach, unfortunately I'm the coach and I will select a team that I know will do the job and represent the country. The bad thing you ask is why didn't you select so and so but you don't tell me select this one and take this one out."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
