Mashaba: We have the talent

Cape Town - Bafana Bafana coach, Shakes Mashaba, has suggested that his makeshift team’s impressive performance on Saturday is proof that South Africa has no lack of talent.

The week building up to the CHAN qualifier against Mauritius was chaotic with SAFA struggling to find players who would be allowed to play by their clubs.

Mashaba refused to criticise the clubs after the game, instead deciding to look at the positives.

"I don’t want to dwell on that issue, it is behind us," Mashaba said according to the SAFA website.

"But what we saw with those boys is more proof of how much talent we have in the country.

"If you select a team one day before the match and they play this well, it tells us a lot. Maybe there are some things we need to sort out as a nation."

The coach even took the time to thank those clubs who came to his aid and provided players at the last minute.

"With that said I would like to say thank you to all the clubs who assisted us with players, we really appreciate the support and let’s hope it’s not the last time they do it.

"They really came on board when we needed them the most.”
