Mashaba struggling to prepare

Cape Town - Bafana Bafana coach, Shakes Mashaba, admits it has been a challenge to properly prepare for their 2016 CHAN qualifier against Mauritius.

Despite being hit by a spate of withdrawals ahead of the first leg, Mashaba's men were rarely troubled as they cruised to a 3-0 win at the Dobsonville Stadium.

Having lost the services of more players leading up to the return leg, Mashaba was hesitant to talk about the frustration of having to alter his plans once again.

However, the Bafana boss was happy to have more time to work with his players than he did ahead of the first tie in Mauritius.

"We don't talk frustration at Bafana Bafana, these are some of the things we have to deal with. But it gives us a bit of a challenge in terms of preparation, and as it is now we are waiting for two more players," Mashaba said.

"Today is just to give the boys a run because they have been resting - to get their bodies back in action, tomorrow we will have intense sessions."

He added: "I think we have to prepare more or less the same. The only question is are the players focused.

"We have five or so sessions before the match which is much better than the first leg.

"The Mauritius team was happy with the three goals that went past them because they have the belief that they will overturn the result, so we cannot allow the last result to influence our preparation.

"We will not take things lightly, we need to prepare thoroughly and guard against complacency. Also our training sessions will guide us on that aspect."

kick-off is at 13:00 on Sunday, July 5.
