Cape Town - Orlando Pirates midfielder Mpho Makola is eager to add more appearances for Bafana Bafana following his successful debut.
The 28-year-old experienced every childhood’s dream of representing South Africa and scoring on debut.
Makola was on hand to become one of only a handful of players to score on debut for the national team as Bafana Bafana defeated Senegal 1-0 in the Nelson Mandela Challenge played at Orlando Stadium.
“I am delighted with my debut performance. This is one of the highlights of one’s career, not many people can say that they have scored on their national team debut,” Makola told the Orlando Pirates website.
“The match against Senegal was tough, we were up against players who play in some of the top leagues around the world and we were able to give a good account of ourselves.
"On a personal level, I am happy to have been able to contribute to the team in a positive way…I hope that with this performance I will get another opportunity to represent my country,” he added.
Makola was also handed the Man of the Match award to cap off his dream debut.
