Madigage may not be replaced

Johannesburg - The South Africa Football Association have suggested that, as a sign of respect, former Bafana Bafana assistant coach Thomas Madigage may not be replaced.

The former SuperSport United number-two was killed in a car accident two weeks ago and the country are still left mourning the passing of one of its favourite footballing sons.

Bafana are currently preparing for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations finals, and coach Gordon Igesund, who previously had two assistants in Madigage and Letsoaka Serame, is now expected to leave the one role vacant.

CEO Robin Petersen gave a brief clue as to SAFA's intentions regarding the position, telling The Sowetan: "More often than not Bafana have had only one assistant coach."

Meanwhile, when asked whether the position will be left open, Igesund responded: "Anything is possible."
