Letlabika: It was a great honour

Cape Town - Bloemfontein Celtic defender Wandisile Letlabika was honoured as he made his Bafana Bafana debut in the team's 3-0 win against Mauritius in the CHAN qualifiers at the Dobsonville Stadium on Saturday.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns defender told Sport24 that it was  a great honour for him to be part of the national team and win on his debut.

He said he had a good understanding with defending partners Tshepo Gumede, Kwanda Mngonyama and Marc van Heerden, who all helped goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune to keep a clean sheet.

"It was a great honour for me to finally play for my country," Letlabika told Sport24.

“I am thankful to coach Shakes Mashaba and the technical team for giving me the chance.

“I am also thankful to my team-mates for making me feel at home in the team in my first national team game. I enjoyed it and it was a great honour for me.”
