Lebese starts for Bafana

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs midfielder George Lebese has been included in Bafana Bafana's starting XI against Costa Rica.

The midfielder has not represented South Africa since 2012 where he came off the bench against Poland in Bafana Bafana's 1-0 loss at the Stadion Narodowy.

Itumeleng Khune will where the armband as he holds onto his position between the sticks for Shakes Mashaba's charges.

Mosa Lebusa will make his debut while Bongani Zungu has also been given a rare start to play alongside Andile Jali in central midfield.

South Africa take on Costa Rica on Thursday, October 8 in San Jose at the Estadio Nacional.

Kick-off is at 04:00 SA time on Friday, October 9.

Starting XI: Khune (captain), Ngcongca, Coetzee, Mathoho, Lebusa, Jali, Zungu, Masango, Serero, Lebese, Vilakazi.

Substitutes: Mabokgwane, R Williams, Nhlapo, Hlatshwayo, C Daniels, Muzi Mashaba, Furman, Mokotjo, Patosi, Shongwe.
