Kirsten has faith in Gordon

Johannesburg - Bafana Bafana coach Gordon Igesund has received the backing of SAFA president Kirsten Nematandani, as he prepares for his first match in charge.

Igesund will announce his first squad on Thursday, to take on Brazil in Sao Paulo on September 7 and Nematandani told Football411 that the former Moroka Swallows mentor is an inspiration at SAFA House.

"The man is passionate about his job, so I have no doubt we have taken a step in the right direction by hiring him... I have faith in Gordon, without a doubt," Nematandani said.

"He energises everybody around him and I believe he is the perfect fit for this situation, because we want to take the country to the top especially in Africa. I have no doubt that Gordon is going to make a difference and that is a feeling among the executive, not just me.

"I do believe that under Gordon we can do well in our match against Brazil and beyond," Nematandani added.

Bafana Bafana take on the Seleção in Sao Paulo on September 7 in an international friendly, before facing Mozambique at the Mbombela stadium in Nelspruit four days later.
