Khune: Bafana need to be in Top 10

Cape Town - Itumeleng Khune admits he was thrilled to have become South Africa's most capped player and is determined to help the country become a force on the global stage.

The former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper racked up his 68th international appearance in the 2-1 friendly win over Angola on Tuesday, earning one more cap than compatriot Andre Arendse in Bafana Bafana's all-time rankings.

And while Khune was delighted with his personal achievement, the shot stopper is more determined than ever to achieve success with the national team.

"I am hungry for more success," he said.

"I feel this is just the beginning of good things to come.

"Make no mistake I am happy about my achievement but I am not satisfied yet because of the position where Bafana Bafana finds itself at the moment.

"In terms of (the FIFA world) rankings - we need to be in the top 10 in the world and top five on the continent, so we still have a long way to go.

"I would not like to focus on myself much but rather on the team."
