Durban - Bafana Bafana captain and goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune believes that a capacity crowd at the Moses Mabhida Stadium will make a difference when they face Nigeria on Wednesday.
Bafana will take on the reigning African champions in the 19th edition of the Nelson Mandela Challenge.
Khune, 26, hinted that although it will be difficult for Bafana to get past the Super Eagles of Nigeria, their chances will be greatly boosted if the country rallies behind them.
The Amakhosi shot-stopper also stressed the fact that Bafana need to work on improving their FIFA ranking.
“This is going to be a challenge for us, it is important for us to win our game because we have not been doing well even in the FIFA rankings,” Khune said.
“Winning against Nigeria will put us in a better position in the rankings because they are ranked No 1 in Africa. It is important for us as a team to go and play together and win, we can only do that with a full support from the fans at the stadium”.
“We are expecting people from Durban to fill the stadium like they always do”.
Nigeria are ranked 35th in the world whereas South Africa occupy 67th spot.
The much anticipated encounter will kick off at 20:15.
