Cape Town - SAFA president Danny Jordaan has told Sport24 that the standard of the national teams is improving.

Jordaan said this after conducting the ABC Motsepe League for the national playoffs which will be held in Kimberly from July 20-26.

Jordaan said that the standard in the third tier league reflects what is happening at national teams at different levels.

He said the Under-17s have qualified for the World Cup and the other national teams are also doing well.

"If you look at what our national teams are achieving then you can see that the standard of our national teams is improving," said Jordaan.

“Banyana Banyana has qualified for the All African Games and the Under-17 boys’ team is going to the World Cup in Chile and the ladies Under-20 is on course of qualifying for the World Cup after beating Botswana 3-1.

“That just shows that we want to see all the teams are doing well.

“We are happy to see people like Mr Motsepe being part of that development not just at national level but also at club level as we have seen the Mamelodi Sundowns Under-17 win the SAFA Under-17 national tournament and seven of those players are in the Under-17 national team.

“That's what we want to see," Jordaan concluded.
