Jali sets AFCON expectation

Cape Town - Andile Jali is on the fence when it comes to Bafana Bafana’s chances in the upcoming AFCON tournament despite being very optimistic.

According to KickOff, Jali admits that while South African fans can expect a lot from the national side he believes it is going to take a lot of hard work to advance from the ‘Group of Death’.

“We’re in a difficult group but we will go all out to advance,” said Jali.

“Experts say we are in the ‘Group of Death’ and with only two teams qualifying, we just have to work as hard as we can to make our country proud of us.

"It is difficult to make predictions about our chances. Algeria, Ghana and Senegal have much more experience at Nations Cup finals. They have several players who play for big European clubs and have been together for three years as a team.

Meanwhile, ahead of the tournament in Equatorial Guinea, Bafana will tested against Zambia in a friendly at the Orlando Stadium on January 4.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
