Cape Town - A despondent Andile Jali rued the missed chances that saw Bafana Bafana lose out on two valuable points in their quest to qualify for AFCON 2017.
South Africa were held scoreless in their Group M AFCON 2017 qualifier against Gambia on Saturday.
Despite Jali and his teammates dominating the midfield battle and creating a number of scoring opportunities, the match ultimately ended in a disappointing 0-0 at the Moses Mahbida Stadium.
The Oostende midfielder told Sport24 that it was unfortunate that after creating so many chances they failed to score.
"We know to win games we need to score," Jali said.
"We wanted to win and we worked very hard for that goal but it never came.
"We gave our best and we will continue giving the best for our country."
South Africa face Angola on Tuesday in a Youth Day friendly in Cape Town.
The match kicks off at 15:00.
