Igesund to hear his fate

Cape Town - Bafana Bafana coach Gordon Igesund is set to hear hear his fate as mentor of the national team.

According to the SowetanLIVE website, Igesund will on Thursday learn if the South African Football Association (SAFA) will show him the door or not.

Advocate Norman Arendse completed his investigation into the Bafana mentor and SAFA president Danny Jordaan, chief executive Dennis Mumble and the national executive committee have had time to deliberate over the findings.

Arendse was the head of a task team SAFA set up to investigate allegations that Igesund influenced players to demand bonuses ahead of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) in January.

Igesund has maintained his innocence, insisting the investigation will clear him of any wrongdoing.

Igesund could also come under fire for Bafana's poor form. He was tasked to guide them to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil and to reach last year’s African Cup of Nations (AFCON) semi-finals. He failed on both accounts.

Bafana’s most recent disappointments were a first round elimination in the third edition of CHAN as well as a 5-0 loss to Brazil at FNB Stadium last month.
