Igesund Pleased With Pitch

accreditation

Bafana Bafana coach, Gordon Igesund, has expressed his delight at the condition of Cape Town Stadium’s pitch ahead of their clash with Central African Republic.

The Siya crew revealed yesterday that the national team coach had gone to look at the pitch recently to check the condition of it, with Cape Town councillor, Grant Pascoe, explaining that he had been pleased.

Now the coach himself has told the Siya crew that he is extremely pleased with how the pitch looks and feels, and says that the groundsmen should be commended for their efforts.

Igesund explained, “I’ve gone and seen the pitch. I saw the pitch about four weeks ago, when Sundowns played Ajax, and when I saw it the first thing I did was phone the stadium. They gave us guarantees that the pitch would be good, and two days ago I went and saw the stadium manager and I have to compliment them.

“They said they were going to work overtime, and they have done so, the pitch is in very, very good condition, and I’m really pleased about that.”

Cape Town Stadium hasn’t been used since Ajax Cape Town took on Mamelodi Sundowns last month, and should be in prime condition for Bafana’s crucial World Cup qualifier.
