Gabuza says thanks to Shakes

Cape Town - Thamsanqa Gabuza has thanked Bafana Bafana coach Shakes Mashaba for keeping an open mind when it comes to his team selection.

Gabuza believes that although Mashaba receives criticism for his team selection, the coach knows something that the media and football analysts don’t, which is why his players love him.

“I say thank you to coach Mashaba for giving me this opportunity,” Gabuza told Sport24.

“I was surprised because I was not playing too many games in the PSL.”

After both goals on Sunday against Mauritius, the whole team ran up to Mashaba in a show of faith as they replicated his trademark celebration.

The in-form striker suggested that the Bafana coach has got all the right answers to make the team succeed.

“It is nice to celebrate with the coach because he has got the truth,” he said.

“To be honest, if you perform you will go straight to the starting line-up.

“If you look at the national squad you’ve got players that are working very hard, you don’t just see the names.

“I’m a good striker and working hard, it is about keeping a positive mind and with confidence I can do it.”
