Fans pick their Bafana XI

Cape Town - Sport24 asked you, the fans, to choose your starting XI to tackle Congo.

Sport24 asked our loyal readers to choose the 11 players who they want to see take the field when Bafana Bafana take on Congo in the crucial 2015 AFCON qualifying match in Point Noire.

Our two soccer experts differed slightly on the team they would like to see Shakes Mashaba choose for Saturday's match in Point Noire.

Wade Pretorius (@wadepretorius):

Senzo Meyiwa (captain), Thabo Matlaba, Thulani Hlatshwayo, Tefu Mashamaite, Eric Mathoho, Dean Furman, Andile Jali, Thulani Serero, Reneilwe Letsholonyane, Oupa Manyisa, Kermit Erasmus.

Tashreeq Vardien (@tash23vard):

Senzo Meyiwa, Thabo Matlaba, Thulani Hlatshwayo (captain), Tefu Mashamaite, Eric Mathoho, Themba Zwane, Andile Jali, Dean Furman, Thulani Serero, Sibusiso Vilakazi, Kermit Erasmus.

And this is who our Facebook, Twitter and website readers chose to start in the "Fans Bafana Bafana XI":

Senzo Meyiwa, Thabo Matlaba, Thulani Hlatshwayo , Tefu Mashamaite, Eric Mathoho, Andile Jali, Dean Furman, Oupa Manyisa, Thulani Serero, Mandla Masango, Kermit Erasmus.

The fans have agreed with our two experts as far as the back four are concerned along with keeping Senzo Meyiwa in goals.

All three teams feature Andile Jali, Dean Furman, Thulani Serero but that is where the similarities end.

The fans want to see Orlando Pirates striker Kermit Erasmus lead the line against Congo with in-form Kaizer Chiefs attacking midfielder Mandla Masango assisting him.

Congo host Bafana Bafana on Saturday, October 11 in Pointe Noire.

The match kicks off at 16:30.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
