Ex-SA coach to settle charges

Johannesburg - Former Bafana Bafana coach Stanley "Screamer" Tshabalala wants to settle assault charges against him out of court, police said on Monday.

"The case is still on. The remanding date is outstanding because both parties want to settle out of court. The court will inform them of the date when they can meet for a settlement," said Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela.

Tshabalala appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrate's Court on March 1 after allegedly assaulting a couple during a soccer match between Orlando Pirates and Moroka Swallows in Dobsonville, Soweto.

Tshabalala allegedly had an argument with a woman seating behind him. When her boyfriend Miguel Cruz intervened, Tshabala allegedly assaulted him.

"It is alleged that while they were fighting, Tshabalala touched the private parts of the woman," Makhubela told a newspaper at the time.
