Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town’s young defender Rivaldo Coetzee has been tipped to become the centre of Bafana Bafana’s team in the future, by former national team head coach, Clive Barker.

Barker took Bafana to their only African Cup of Nations success in 1996 when South Africa hosted the tournament.

According to Ajax’s official website, the former Mpumalanga Black Aces coach has stated that Shakes Mashaba should build the future of South African football around Coetzee and rates the 18-year-old as one of the best players for the future.

“I think he’ll be more dominant with time,” said Barker.

“Obviously he’s got nice touches, he’s a great passer of the ball and he’s a nice player all round. But, he’s a player for the future of course.

“I think we should build a part of the national team around about him because you can’t play him in every position.

“But having had a closer look at him recently, I think he is a quality player and one for the future,” said Barker.
