Igesund, the PSL Coach of the Year, is a frontrunner to succeed Bafana Bafana boss Pitso Mosimane, who was axed on Monday night.
The Moroka Swallows mentor faces competition from caretaker tactician Steve Komphela, SuperSport United's Gavin Hunt, national U-23 manager Shakes Mashaba and Thanda Royal Zulu coach Neil Tovey.
"If I were a coach, I wouldn't get excited, but looking at the shortlisted five, they are good coaches I believe," Booth told Football411.com.
"Statistically, Shakes has a better record as coach of the national team, the Under-23 and Bafana. Gavin Hunt's coaching abilities and record also speak volumes.
"The current caretaker coach (Komphela) is also not a bad option, but for me Gordon Igesund should have been given this job a long time ago."
