Cape Town - Shaun Bartlett has recently been appointed as the assistant coach of the under-23 Amaglug-glug team.
Understanding Owen Da Gama's coaching philosophy should prove fruitful as he wants to achieve the same goal with the players, and this also keeps the relationship strong.
"I played under Owen in 2009. That’s the only time I worked with him," Bartlett told Sport24.
"The relationship is fine. I obviously understand his philosophy and what he wants from players as a coach. And it’s also easier for me to implement that in the team"
Having immense knowledge and experience on and off the field is possibly the reason for his appointment as assistant coach, and this can also prove the players belief and trust in his abilities alongside Da Gama.
Despite the amount of time the coaches have Bartlett is positive with the talent that the team has to offer.
Bartlett knows the outcome that is expected from the team and he is determined to show that in their upcoming match with Zimbabwe on Sunday.
The former Bafana Bafana striker also looks forward to what Dolly and Ntshangase have to offer as well, as they have been on top form in training.
"Well, I think I’ve been here a couple of days and have seen some great talent in this country and hopefully we will be able to develop that, considering the short space of time I have been here.
"There is the likes of Keegan Dolly, Siphelele Ntshangase. These have obviously been in top form and have been playing well for their clubs respectively and I’m looking forward to seeing what they have to offer come Sunday."
