Cape Town - Shaun Bartlett believes the appointment of Neil Tovey as South African Football Association Technical Director is a step in the right direction for the country's development.
The news was announced last week and will see Tovey help rebuild from the ground up, and Bartlett, who previously played alongside Tovey for Bafana Bafana, is confident he is the right man for the job.
"Obviously, with his experience, he will be able to put structures in place, and I think structures need to be put specifically in grass roots level. I think he's got the knowledge for that," former Golden Arrows coach Bartlett told KickOff.
"It is the reason why our national teams are not doing well, because there was no real structures in place at grass roots level.
"We need to get the right people in the right places to make sure that we can get better players for Bafana Bafana. That is very important and that is going to be Neil's main job now."
