Bafana to surprise teams

Cape Town - Cameroon head coach Volker Finke believes South Africa could be a surprise package at the upcoming 2015 African Cup of Nations.

The Indomitable Lions were held to a 1-1 draw by Bafana Bafana on Saturday, with Sibusiso Vilakazi bagging the equaliser after Vincent Aboubakar had opened the scoring early on.

The South Africans contest Group C with Algeria, Ghana and Senegal, but Finke has warned those teams not to take Shakes Mashaba's men too lightly.

"Yes they (South Africa) are in a tough group but they are doing well," he told reporters.

"While preparing for our match against them, I watched tapes of their last two games - the 2-1 win over Sudan and the 2-2 draw against Nigeria - I can tell you now, many teams are in for a surprise from South Africa.

"They look like they can get into the second round that is very possible."

South Africa kick-off their AFCON campaign against Algeria on January 19, while Cameroon open their tournament against Mali a day later.
