Cape Town - Thulani Serero is being linked with a R65 million move to Serie A heavyweights, AC Milan, according to reports.
Ajax Amsterdam will be tempted to part ways with South African midfielder, Thulani Serero, as struggling giants of European football AC Milan ponder a move for the player.
Serero's current deal with Ajax Amsterdam expires in 2017, having arrived at the club from Ajax Cape Town in 2011 for a fee in the region of €2.5 million.
The 24-year-old Bafana Bafana midfielder, who has 18 international caps to his name, played for 85 minutes in his side's 3-1 league win over rivals PSV on Sunday.
The versatile midfielder has gathered some much-needed European experience with Ajax Amsterdam, notching up 15 appearances in the Champions League and has now caught the eye of AC Milan.
Various local and international reports suggest that whilst the Serie A club is interested in acquiring Serero's services, any potential transfer would be subject to Milan playing in European competition next season.
With just two wins in their last six league fixtures, AC Milan are currently some way off the pace in their bid to qualify for the Europa league - with a place in the Champions League seeming impossible at this stage.
Milan are a massive 15 points off second place Roma and eight points behind Fiorentina, who occupy fifth place.
Another potential stumbling block is the number of foreigners already in the AC Milan squad, meaning coach Filippo Inzaghi would have to axe one of his current players to make a place available for Serero.
No official word on the transfer speculation has yet been released from Serero's camp.
Serero is a three-time winner of the Dutch Eredivisie.
