Bafana move up one spot

Paris - Bafana Bafana have moved up one place to number 67 in the latest FIFA world rankings released on Wednesday.

England moved up to third place in the new FIFA world rankings in August, the country's highest ever position since the creation of the classification.

World champions Spain remain at the top of the rankings after they retained their European title in July, with beaten Euro 2012 semi-finalists Germany still in second place.

Roy Hodgson's England, who were knocked out at the quarter-final stage of Euro 2012 to beaten finalists Italy, moved up one position, swapping places with Uruguay, who lost points due to the devaluation of matches from last year's Copa America.

Brazil dropped two places to 13th, while Russia moved up two spots to 11th.

South Sudan, which in May became the 209th member of FIFA, played its first official match since the country was founded, a 2-2 draw with Uganda. The African nation entered the FIFA rankings for the first time in 199th position.

Only 12 international matches were taken into account for the latest rankings and the classification for September could see more movement after a series of friendly fixtures scheduled for August 15.

Hahahahahahaha then why do you have Gordon Igesund's face as cover? As if his appointment led to the move upwards for Bafana? I just hope Bafana will escalate to the 30th spot in a year's time.

The fifa world rankings should not be our focus. The teams (senior and junior) should start playing for a win and win matches. The ranking will follow good results.

Soccer in SA is pathetic. They will never compete on the world stage with any real respect from other nations. It is going to take a miracle to sort this out.

If Safa Could get some whites in there, and operate like SARU and CSA, then the future is bright, cz those black guys there dont know sustainability (no offence to black im black 2)

SARU - then they will bribe other Clubs not to be in the PSL (like they did to the Kings) CSA - then they will squander the Bonuses. The PSL doesnt not need white, black, indian or coloured people... It just needs competent leaders...
